I'm so reluctant to call this wonderful recipe, "gluten-free". In fact, it is flourless! It's a Spanish Almond Cake; simple, delicious and fun to make. This easy-to-make cake is ground almonds, egg yolks, egg whites, a little sugar, almond-flavoring and orange and lemon zest! Couldn't be easier but perfect for "our gluten-free" guests!

Fresh Beginnings at Casa Bella B&B
Some of us crave fresh fruit in the early am; me included! This recipe is an adaptation of an English trifle into a refreshing morning course that wakes up the tastebuds!
This is an easy creme made up of a little custard, yogurt and freshly whipped cream! I add the creme mixture to a crystal glass, slice fresh strawberries and gently layer them on top of the creme, add another small layer of creme, sliced red grapes, more creme and finally a layer of homemade blueberries in their own syrup and salted chopped almonds and pecans! All of this sits on a crunchy square of pan-fried pound cake!
Let the madness begin! We're ready!

Breakfast Pork Chops
By far, these chops seem to satisfy our heartier breakfast eaters! Pan-fried Pork Chops with our homemade bread crumbs. We usually serve it alongside a softly turned egg with fresh fruit and English Toast with Black Raspberry Preserves. And of course, ONLY after a sweet course of bread pudding or French Toast!
This week, I tried something a little different-toasting my leftover biscuits and processing them into crumbs. I had both plain and cheese biscuits leftover and I was so pleased with the results. Ultra crispy breadcrumbs that made for a wonderful pork chop.
