Casa Bella is busy with spring cleaning and dolling up the outdoors.

After a brief bit of time off, we're anxious to open the pool, paint the porch furniture and add a new farm table to our beloved front porch!

We've always enjoyed a pretty table on the west side of the porch but the sun is intense and too hot for a pleasant breakfast.  So, we've repainted the base and are in the process of adding a beautiful tabletop of reclaimed wood salvage from old barnwood!

And we have moved our pretty new table to a new cooler location and hope guests will enjoy even more use of our fabulous front porch!

Spring Taste of Newnan

The usual signs of spring are all around us now-including itchy eyes and stuffy noses! But the sure fire way to know we are in for some good days with warm weather and BBQ is the Spring Taste of Newnan on the court square!

Market Days has already fired up and the city of Newnan becomes one of the most beautiful small town hubs in all of Georgia.

Stay Near The Southern Living Idea House in Newnan

We have been on the hunt for the ideal rustic pound cake for a few weeks now. After a couple of recipes that didn't quite make the grade we found our perfect cake! From a 1987 Southern Living Cookbook we settled on a Buttermilk Pound Cake that had the texture we were looking for. Dense, crumbly with a crunchy egg white crust.

One of our most popular sweet courses at Casa Bella Bed and Breakfast is a Strawberries Romanoff served on crispy, grilled pound cake. Store-bought pound cake just wasn't quite yielding the results we desired.

We needed a cake that could hold up to the grilling and produce some crispy bits of buttery goodness that would ultimately absorb the Orange Brandy liqueur flavoring our strawberries! The dense buttery crumbs mix with the creamy homemade whipped cream and orange brandy flavor to create a mouth-watering strawberry experience!

Baker Ron deserves a big round of applause on this one. Can't wait to see what's next!

When you're visiting the 2010 Southern Living Idea House in nearby Senoia, book your reservations at Casa Bella Bed and Breakfast by calling 770-755-6750 and ask for your Strawberries Romanoff and Baker Ron's Buttermilk Pound Cake.
