The apples are cooling, the syrup's thickening and 8 quarts of fresh figs are ready to be put up! We're just waiting on you!
At my father's request, I'm off to fry some freshly-picked Matsu apples in bacon grease! You know you want to taste it, too!

Breakfast at Casa Bella
The first apples have been picked and I'm anxious to turn them into apple filling for crepes and an apple-cinnamon bread!
Some years the squirrels and birds get to the crop before I do but I reason that we have to share during dry months. This year I'm under the trees in time and have sampled the first juicy apple.
I've never identified these but they are a very good with the right amount of rain. Lightly sweet, a little tart . . .really perfect for a tart or apple fritter!
